Anacortes Walk Fest--Fun and Adventures--Four days of small group outings for every ability and interest, led by dedicated locals

Encouraged by the first-year response, organizers have set the dates for next year: Friday, April 30–Monday, May 3, 2027. Stay tuned for details!

Anacortes Walk Fest launched in May 2026, drawing more than 360 registrants for 29 community walks and treks across Fidalgo Island. Local volunteers and experts led visitors on foot for fun and discovery of the area’s trails, history, wildlife, neighborhoods and hidden corners.

Come walk with us in 2027. Explore nature, history, culture, local people and adventure through a wide variety of small group walks—easy strolls to longer treks through Fidalgo Island’s parks, forests, summits and shorelines.

Walk Fest will offer 40 walks over four days, April 30–May 3. Our first year was 93% sold out, so we encourage visitors to register early and reserve their favorite walks. Our 2027 walk schedule will be available online early in 2027.

You will find a welcoming community celebration for eager hikers, relaxed strollers and curious explorers alike. It’s a chance to meet people, share stories and discover the many places, people and experiences that make Fidalgo Island special. Come for a walk, stay for the camaraderie and discoveries in Anacortes along the way.

Mark your calendars. We can’t wait to welcome you back for Walk Fest 2027.

“My hike leaders were fantastic — enthusiastic, sharing tidbits about various parts of the trail and giving hikers choices (within reason) to make things a little more or less challenging.” –Anacortes Community Forest Lands walker.

“Superb job of organizing. Really fun. After the hike, we did Cap Sante, Downtown Anacortes, the Jazz Festival, the rooftop restaurant atop the Majestic Hotel for dinner. We had a grand time in Anacortes. We’ll be back next year.” —Mt. Erie hiker

“Great blend humor, facts, trivia and payoffs. And thanks for the insights regarding (Anacortes) Parks.” —Cap Sante walker

“We had a wonderful time and hope that Walkfest becomes an Anacortes tradition.” —Guemes Island hiker

“Enjoyed meeting geologists who shared their love of geology and seeing the mind- boggling, rock formation at the last stop. Looked like a wave curl.” —Washington Park walker
